This policy covers the EZ Mile Log app for iPhone and Android, made by Batishev Enterprises LLC ("we").
Your location
- The app uses your phone's location to measure the miles of trips you record. Location readings are processed on your phone and saved only as part of your log on your phone. They are never sent to us.
- If you turn on automatic logging, the app uses location in the background (location access set to "Always" on iPhone or "Allow all the time" on Android) so it can detect and record driving trips even when the app is closed or not in use. Location and motion services may run before, during and shortly after a trip, to notice travel, measure distance and tell when recording should stop. Trip records stay on your phone. Automatic logging is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time. You can always log trips by hand without giving the app location access.
- To tell when you are in a car, the app uses your phone's motion features: Motion & Fitness on iPhone, and Physical activity (Google Play services activity recognition) on Android. This is processed on your phone and never sent to us.
- To show street names for the start and end of a trip, the app sends that trip's start and end coordinates to your phone's built-in address-lookup service (Apple on iPhone; on Android, the address service provided with your device, usually Google), which returns an address. This is done only for trip ends that are not one of your saved places, and nothing else is sent. Those services handle the request under their own privacy policies, and the addresses they return may not be exact.
Your trips, expenses and receipts
- Everything you log, including receipt photos, is stored on your phone only. We cannot see it.
- The camera is used only when you choose to photograph a receipt. Photos you pick from your library are copied into the app only when you choose them.
- Reports and backup files are created on your phone. They leave your phone only when you choose to share or save them somewhere, and then go only where you send them (for example email, your cloud storage, or your accountant).
- Your phone's own device backup (iCloud or Google) may include the app's data, under Apple's or Google's policies.
- Uninstalling the app removes the data it stored on your phone. Files you exported or shared, backup files you saved, and your phone's own system backups are separate and stay until you delete them through those services.
Talk to text
If you tap the microphone button to say a trip's purpose, the app uses your phone's microphone and speech recognition to turn your words into text. This happens on your phone (Apple's on-device speech recognition on iPhone; your phone's on-device speech service on Android). The recording is not saved and is never sent to us. The microphone is used only while that screen is listening, and only after you tap the button. If an iPhone can't do this on the device, the app tells you and you can type instead; on Android phones that can't, the button isn't shown.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app shows them on your phone (for example "Trip logged" or the ongoing "Recording trip" notice Android requires while GPS is on). They are created on your phone and are not sent through our servers.
What we receive
We do not operate servers that receive or store your mileage log. There is no account or sign-in, no ads, no analytics and no third-party tracking tools in the app, and we do not sell or share personal data. The only information we receive is what you choose to send us, such as a support email. As described above, trip end coordinates may be sent to your phone's address-lookup service.
Payments
EZ Mile Log is a paid download. Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) handles the purchase. We never see your name, account or payment details.
If you email us
If you write to us, we get your email address and whatever you put in the message. We use it only to reply to you, keep it only as long as needed to help you, and will delete it on request.
Children
EZ Mile Log is a business record-keeping tool intended for adults and is not directed to children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
